Quarantine Day Eight: The Fineries of Life on a Desert FOB

May 2, 2020
FOB Westbrook, NM

Simply because we are quarantined  deep in the Chihuahuan Desert doesn’t mean we have to live like barbarians.

Every morning about 1000, and some afternoon at High Tea, MAJ A., our barista, does a bit of a brew-up.  With leftover Rice Crispy Treats or Pop-Tarts, it’s right civilized, I’m tellin’ ya!  For the more traditionally-minded, we do have a small supply of banana bread.

The morning coffee klatsch:

After several hours of hard work figuring out connectivity, five medical officers were able to mate someone’s (ahem) hard disk full of movies with MAJ S’s projector and 1LT D’s Bluetooth speaker and now we have an indoor theater.

Brave was first up, but I’m working on a prison theme.  So far I’ve queued up The Great Escape, The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, and Stir Crazy, the latter seeming the most appropriate to our situation.
